OSU wrestlers and trainers visit teenage wrestler in rehabilitation following rare adolescent stroke at summer camp

A Tuttle, Oklahoma, mother is sounding a cautionary alarm about the dangers of stroke in adolescents after her son collapsed at a summer wrestling camp. Valorie Champion beamed as members of the OSU wrestling team, along with team coach John Smith, visited her son’s physical therapy session Thursday at INTEGRIS Health Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center in Yukon, but she didn’t forget her mission to talk about stroke in young people.

New membership director infuses Chamber with a fresh perspective

Laura Oldfather has recently joined the team as the new membership director at the Altus Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber welcomes Oldfat h e r, in a move signaling renewed emphasis on member relations. “My aim is to focus on our membership relations. It’s about making sure our members feel valued and heard,” she said. Oldfather joins Jenny Graves, announced recently as the new CEO and president of the Chamber.

33rd annual WOSC Foundation Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament held

The 33rd Annual WOSC Foundation Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament was held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Greens of Altus. The 2023 Annual Tournament will provide $18,700.00 in additional funds to the WOSC Foundation Jim Holland Memorial Scholarship Endowment. This year’s benefit will increase the endowment to nearly $382,000.00 with only the interest earned from the endowment providing scholarships on an annual basis.
