Altus Public Schools remind parents to update contact information

Altus Public Schools will always notify parents, students, faculty, and staff when school will be closed for severe or dangerous winter weather. These announcements are made via text and voice messages, the school websites, Facebook, and local radio stations. We do not make announcements that Altus Public Schools is open and running buses and activities as scheduled. Parents, if your phone number has changed, please contact your child’s school with the update.

Winter storms can often lead to: carbon monoxide poisoning related to power outages; hypothermia and frostbite; and mental health impacts. Freezing temperatures and winter storms leave people with disabilities, older adults and those with chronic health conditions without power for life-saving medical supplies and without the ability to charge Assistive Technologies or other powerdependent devices.

Attorney General’s Office to monitor natural gas supply, marketing activity during frigid weather

Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced recently that his office will be monitoring natural gas supply and marketing activity during the frigid weather expected over the next few days. With bone-chilling temperatures in the forecast, Drummond said he wants to ensure Oklahomans are not exploited as they were during Winter Storm Uri.
