Kathryn was born June 19, 1927, in Altus. She graduated from Altus High School in 1945 and married Jack Baucum Aug. 10, 1947, in Vernon, Texas. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church since the age of 12. Her church activities included being a member of Circle TT of United Methodist Women, Enielsar Sunday School Class, and the B.A.L.L. group. She also helped with funeral meals, was a call to worship reader, and communion Wafer Baker. She enjoyed being a member of the Caladian Club, the Literary Club, and the Coffee Cup Bunch of the Friends of the Library.
Kathryn worked at Commerce Cafeteria for two to three years as a checker, worked at the telephone office for one year, and worked as a nurse for Dr. Cooper Ray from 1955 to 1989, when she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eva Lee Cavenar Doss; her brother-in-law, O.B. Doss; and two nephews, Max Doss and Robert Doss.
Kathryn is survived by two nephews, Tommy Thompson of Moore, and Robert Doss of Texas; three nieces, Sue Donaho and Judy Wright, both of Joplin, Mo., and Barbara Votruba of Abilene, Texas; other relatives, and many friends. Her special caregivers this past year were Debbie Roberts, Donna Jones, and LaDonna Pauley, all of Altus.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowell-Tims Chapel with the Rev. Margie Van Oostrum officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
