Miss Altus Ashley Hyde was a contestant in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant Saturday. Although she did not place, she did walk away with $4,000 in additional scholarship money.

Ashley received the Ester Scholarship for having overcome adversity and helping others to overcome their own.

Hyde also earned $1,000 for being the contestant selling the most sponsor pages in this year’s Miss Oklahoma Pageant program.

Ashley is a senior at the University of Arts and Science of Oklahoma at Chickasha and competed in her first state pageant.

The new Miss Oklahoma is Kelsey Cartwright, 20, of Collinsville. She is a sophomore at Oklahoma City University and competed as Miss Keystone Lake in her first state pageant. Her platform issue is Open Adoptions.

The Annual Miss Outstanding Oklahoma Teen Pageant was also held in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma event.

Altus’ Fallon Fausch, who will be a junior this fall at Altus High School, placed in the Top 10.
