The Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers dug themselves a big hole they just couldn’t get out of and the result was an 85-75 loss to Southwestern Christian College here on Thursday night.
The visitors had a big run toward the end of the first half and carried a 52-35 margin at halftime.
The Pioneers made a comeback in the second half and when Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan hit a shot, Western trailed only 71-69 with 4:43 remaining.
However, SWCC outscored the Pioneers 14-6 down the stretch to put the game away.
Stirling Thomas led the Pioneers with 18 points. Shakore Grant finished with 13 points.
SWCC avenged an earlier season loss to Western. The Pioneers defeated SWCC in the season opener last week.
The Pioneers are now 3-2 on the season. The play at Mid America Christian in Oklahoma City tonight before hosting Tinker Air Force Base in a 4 p.m. game on Sunday.
