Jackson County Safety/Emergency Director Jerry Gibson told the commissioners about the Oklahoma Emergency Management grant currently available. This grant is performance-based on Gibson's educational training and meetings he attends on behalf of the county. This is the third year he will have applied for the grant worth $10,000. The county has saved $20,000 of funding for emergency purposes from this grant. With some of the money from the grant this year, Gibson would like to add more surveillance cameras to the courthouse. He'd also like to access cable to view weather channels which would be quicker than computer access. The commissioners approved the application for the grant.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Jackson County Commissioners met Tuesday, Sept. 7. The minutes of the Tuesday, Aug. 31 meeting were approved. There were five approved reports, one each from: the Election Board, the Court Clerks' Office, the Treasurer's Office, the County Clerk's Office and the District Attorney's Office. Blanket purchase orders were received from the Courthouse and for Highways in each of the Districts.

During the officers' reports, Commissioner Dale Dunn reminded the officers that the County Fair runs this week. In discussion about possible rain, Commissioner Anthony Fixico said that if it rained during the fair they may put some more gravel down at the fairgrounds.

The commissioners approved Resolution 2010-53 to transfer funds from the County Insurance Fund to the Highway Cash T-2 Fund for the damage to the track loader.

The annual site membership fees were approved for the Air Evac Lifeteam for a total of $620.

Also approved were two more project CBRI cash fund reimbursements for BRO-133-D(101)CO and ECR171/196-199. Another reimbursement, for the SCR187/SCR163 project was not acted upon at this meeting. Commissioner Cary Carrell will revamp this for a future agenda.

The supplemental appropriations for August were approved.

In a prior meeting, Bob Bartlett had informed the commissioners and officers that the county needed to do an update for their EMC Insurance coverage for county public officials and liability coverage. The courthouse only has a replacement value of $3.5 million and contents at one-half million dollars. After discussing various figures for coverage for the courthouse and other County holdings, the commissioners advised taking no action on the item until further information is available on insurance rates.

In new business, the County Clerk Christi Hair has not received any bids yet for the fascia repair. Bids will be opened on Monday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. during the Commissioners meeting.

There were no public or vendors participation items.

The claims were all approved, and the meeting was adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
