Teen dies in early Saturday accident, several injured

A Granite teenage was pronounced dead at the scene of an early Saturday morning accident in Greer County.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 12:47 a.m. Saturday on County Road 1390, a dirt road, two miles east of State Hwy 6 in Greer County.

Michael Wayne Williams, 35, of Granite, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban when he was said to have failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the left side of the road, and then overturned one and a fourth times, coming to rest on its side.

There were six passengers in the vehicle.

Williams was taken by Greer County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus where he was admitted in serious condition with multiple injuries.

Passenger Lacy Ky-Ann Green, 18, of Granite, was ejected 10 feet from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene from head and neck injuries, and was taken to Greer Funeral Home.

Passenger Jessie Hall, 37, of Granite, was taken by Jackson County EMS and was admitted to Jackson County Memorial Hospital with head, external trunk, and arm injuries.

A 14-year-old passenger from Granite was taken to the hospital by Jackson County EMS where he was treated and released, and a 13-year old passenger from Granite was taken by Greer County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

Passenger James R. Leonard, 17, of Granite, was taken by Greer County EMS to the hospital where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk, head, and external injuries.

Passenger Brandon Green, 18, of Granite, was taken by Greer County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital and was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk, and external injuries.

No other vehicles were involved. Seatbelts were equipped, but were not in use. Airbags were equipped, but did not deploy.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Steve Pothorst of the Greer/Harmon County detachment of Troop M. He was assisted by Troopers Justin Wheeler, Scott Hazel, and Lieutenant George Dickerson. Also assisting were the Greer County Sheriff’s Department, Greer County EMS, Jackson County EMS, Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department, and the Granite Police Department.
