It was the most productive offensive output of the season for the Altus High Bulldogs in their game with Anadarko here on Thursday afternoon. However, it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs dropped a 16-10 decision to the Warriors.

It started badly for the Bulldogs who yielded five runs to the visitors in the first inning.

But Altus rallied for seven runs of its own in the home half of the inning. The Bulldogs were the beneficiaries of five walks, a hit batter and an error. Jacob Kidwell had the only hit of the inning which was a run-scoring single.

The Bulldogs added a run in the second inning when Kasen Warren singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit by Felix Santillan.

That gave Altus an 8-5 lead but it was a bad fourth inning that proved to be the down fall of the Bulldogs. Anadarko sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs on six hits. There were two Altus errors. Clean up batter Russell Mithlo had two home runs in the inning.

The Warriors added two more runs in the fifth to make it 16-8.

The Bulldogs got a single run in the home half of the fifth when Damien Ray doubled, stole third and scored on a passed ball.

Altus’ final run was in the seventh. Kidwell walked, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a single by Landon Ybarra and scored on a wild pitch.

Ybarra, Warren, Santillan, Ray, Kidwell and Justin Sanchez all had one hit in the game.

Altus (1-7) will travel to Lawton MacArthur on Monday for a 2 p.m. game. The same two teams will play at Kiwanis Park in a 2 p.m. game Tuesday.
