Altus Police are investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries reported on Wednesday and Thursday, and Police Chief Mike Patterson said they have suspects being investigated in connection.

The Wednesday police blotter included vehicle break-ins discovered during the morning hours at 1104 Hickory, 204 and 503 East Liveoak Street, and 1117 Maple.

“These type of burglaries are crimes of convenience,” said Patterson. “Thieves will look in car windows ‘shopping’ for something to steal,” he said.

The thievery occurred overnight again Wednesday and again on Thursday with reports of burglaries to vehicles at 305 East “B” Street, and 701 North Hightower, as well as two other vehicle burglaries on the log, but without addresses listed.

Officers also investigated residential burglaries on Wednesday at 1100 North Hudson and on Thursday at 716 N. Spurgeon.

Shoplifting incidents were reported on Wednesday evening at the Dollar General store, 112 West Broadway, and the Stripes convenience store on Falcon Road.
