The Altus Public Library and the Shortgrass Institute will be conducting an art workshop for teens Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday, March 11, 12 14 and 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Synott Matthews will be the instructor for the class. The cost of the class is $25. This workshop is for ages 10-12, it will be the first the library has conducted for this age group. Synott, a well-know artist and area teacher, will be teaching Prismacolor Drawing. All materials are supplied. Pre-registration for the class is required and can be made by calling the library at 477-2890. The class is made possible in part with a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
Prismacolor pencils are the most favorite pencil of artists. Their thick lead and the multitude of colors available make it the top choice of artists. The creamy, smooth texture, and permanent pigments give its brilliant look. Students in the workshop will use the pencils to develop art-making skills. NO previous experience is necessary so all tweens are invited to sign up. Plan to have fun while you learn.
For more information about the workshop or to enroll, call the library at 477-2890.
