Southwestern Youth Services Executive Director Veronica Damron shares a touching story about a little girl who recently donated her birthday gifts to others.

“We received a donation of toys from a wonderful little six year-old, Riley Blaylock,” said Damron. “Instead of receiving gifts for her birthday, she asked her guests to purchase gifts to donate to the emergency shelter program for kids in the shelter to have birthday gifts.”

Riley’s father James Blaylock went on to explain that after receiving gifts from her parents and grandparents, she decided any extra birthday presents she received would be donated to the Youth Services emergency shelter program in Altus. Riley even indicated in her birthday invitations that her gifts would be donated, and that her guests could buy birthday gifts appropriate for any age or gender. That way, the gifts could be given to kids who needed them.
