Eisenhower, Houston land in Shortgrass finals

Lawton Eisenhower defeated cross town rival Lawton MacArthur 49-35 and Houston HCYA downed Centennial 65-61 in the semifinals of the 41st annual Clester Harrington Invitational Basketball Tournament on Friday night.

That created a rematch of last year’s tournament final which was won by Eisenhower.

In other games Dallas HSAA defeated Altus 56-43 and Chickasha got by Duncan 60-53 in consolation games.

Eisenhower 49, MacArthur 35

It’s the lowest scoring game of the tournament.

The Highlanders hit only 13 field goals in the game and never really got anything going offensively.

Eisenhower was more consistent. The Eagles got a 13 point performance from Jamey Woods.

Bryce Beckett led MacArthur with 13 points.

Houston 65, Centennial 61.

It went down to the wire. In the end Houston’s Justin Jackson was just too much for Centennial.

Jackson, a 6-8 junior finished with 33 points, 11 blocked shots and nine rebounds.

Jackson hit a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left to give the Warriors a 63-57 lead and that was too much for the Bison to make up.

Austin Garner and Terry Davis each scored 14 points to lead Centennial

Centennial played MacArthur in Saturday’s third place game.

Dallas HSAA 56, Altus 43

Altus went on a scoring drought in the fourth quarter.

Nico Maldonado hit a shot with 5:32 left in the game and the Bulldogs trailed only 44-39. However, Altus did not score for the next 3:48.

That enabled the Blue Angels to build a 13 point lead with less than two minutes left.

Malik Knight scored 13 points and Kasen Warren 12 points to lead Altus

Cole Johnson had 19 points and Jackson Davis finished with 14 points for Dallas.

Dallas played Chickasha Saturday for the consolation title while the Bulldogs met Duncan in the seventh place game.

Chickasha’s Joey Sylvester hit a three point shot with 1:27 left to give the Chicks a 54-53 lead, a lead they never gave up. Chickasha then added six straight points to close the game out.

E.J. Golighty ripped the nets for 28 points to lead the Chicks. Sylvester finished with 20 points.

Duncan was led by Jack Braught who had 14 points.
