Private contractors for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), are finishing up striping on two local highways this week. Tabs were placed on the roadways back in November on Broadway (Hwy 62) and Main Street (Hwy 283), to mark the lanes where the old lane striping material was removed. Altus Street Commissioner Holmes Willis said the old material was ground off with special equipment by the contractor’s employees. After all the old striping was ground and swept off to provide adhesion, workers began laying the new stripes down last week, finishing up this week.
