The City of Altus issued mandatory water conservation in Altus on Tuesday afternoon while repairs to a line from Tom Steed Reservoir were being made. According to Lloyd Colston with the Altus City Emergency Management, the line was fixed shortly after midnight, but water conservation is still being encouraged due current drought conditions.
“I’m not saying to not use the water you need, but certainly only need the water you use,” Colston said.
Although only for a short time, water from the Altus City Reservoir was used while the line from Tom Steed was being repaired. “We are not using reservoir water any longer,” Colston said, “so there should no longer be a change in water taste and odor.”
