Mr. Wilhite died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 in a Snyder nursing home.
Burial with military honors will be in the Rogers Cemetery, Southwest of Snyder under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
He was born Jan. 27, 1923 in Denison, Texas to W.L. and Martha (Cox) Wilhite. He served in the US Army during WW II, and earned battle stars for the following campaigns, Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. Upon his return from the war, he married the love of his life, Blanche Geraldine Adams, on December 27, 1945 at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Snyder. They were happily together for 67 years. He was a delivery driver for Borden’s Dairy for many years, and truly loved his job, retiring in 1987. He helped his wife Blanche attend to the nursery at the Snyder First Baptist Church for over 40 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and noodling with his good friends Fred Anderson and Earnest Cozart. He was an avid domino and card player at the Snyder domino hall, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Snyder. Junior loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and will be truly missed by all. His survivors include a total of five generations.
Survivors include his wife Blanche of the home; two children, Keith and wife Brenda Wilhite of Snyder, and Denise and husband Paul Richardson of Duncan; two brothers, Leslie Wilhite of California, and Kenneth Wilhite of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, JoAnn Wilhite and husband David O’Connor of Tipton, Brian Wilhite and wife Sheila of Snyder, Becky Wilhite of Snyder, Brooke Miller and husband Casey of Ardmore, Jed Richardson of Duncan, Delisa Jennings and husband Gary of Snyder, and Brent Stroud of Ada; great-grandchildren, Justin, Veronica, Casey, Jared, Shelby, Tina, Taylor, Danny, and Alyssa; great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Mya, Kyle, and Shawn; and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Janice; and four siblings, Clarence Wilhite, Willie Adams, Hazel Bonham and Isaac Wilhite.
