John B. Leyton, 77, of Altus, went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. A Rosary has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m., today at Lowell-Tims Chapel. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Price of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Sundar Pudota officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

John was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Strawn, Texas, to Herman and Virginia Leyton. He married Reymunda Luna on Nov. 9, 1957 in Crosbyton, Texas. They made their home in Altus and spent 55 wonderful years together.

John worked on the farm with several local farmers including Charles Abernathy, Boyd and Glenn Stout, Harlan Tabb, Wayne Winsett, and the Mock Brothers before illness made him retire.

He is survived by the love of his life for 55 years, Reymunda Leyton. From this union, three children survive, Virginia Goskey and husband Grey of Altus, Linda Leyton and husband Bobby of Mineral Wells, Texas, and John L. Leyton and fianc Sheila Appleton of Altus; five grandsons, Carlos Ruiz Jr. and wife Stephanie of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jonathan Rey Leyton and Dolores of Mineral Wells, John Rey Leyton and wife Amanda of Altus, David Leyton of Altus ,and Mario Ruiz and wife Ashley of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Nikolas Ruiz of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Corina Rey Leyton of Mineral Wells. John is also survived by two brothers, Terry Leyton and wife Dora of Muskegon, Mich., and Robert Leyton of Altus; three sisters, Aurora Chavira of Mineral Wells, Helen Gonzales and husband Bob of Muskegon, and Julia Hernandez and husband Esequil of Grand Prairie, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
