County tax collections increase 1.5M from 2011

County Treasurer Renee Howard addressed Commissioners during their regular meeting on Monday. Howard revealed that 2012 tax collections increased approximately 1.5M from 2011. Tax collections for December 2012 totaled $6,792,730, up $1,507,133, from 2011’s $5,285,597.

December 2010 collections totaled $5,295,981, and December 2009 totaled $6,236,511.

Court Clerk Robin Booker opened the meeting and proceeded to the first item, the Reorganization of Board of County Commissioner’s for the year 2013. Anthony Fixico was named Chairman, and Vice Chairman will be Carey Carrell.

The County Excise Board joined the meeting to set the holidays for 2013. It was decided to set the holiday dates to be the same as the state dates.

Minutes were approved from previous Commissioner’s meeting for the elector’s office, assessor’s office, DA’s office, treasurer’s office, and sheriff’s department.

No purchase orders we requested for approval.

Commissioners also approved Supplemental appropriations for December 2012. There were 3; Resolution authorizing County Treasurer to apportion interest to designated accounts; Advertising for bids for asphalt base road oil; Installation permit for S&D Farms to install electric lines across a roadway; declaration for three (3) items of equipment surplus to be placed in Statewide County Auction, Mar. 8-9; and claims were approved. No approval requests for new business.
