Driver runs into convenience store

Just before 10 p.m. on New Year’s Day a driver in this SUV ran into Love’s Convenience Store on N. Main. According to the store manager, no one was injured when the vehicle came through the wall. The store was back open this morning, although some services were unavailable. According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, Crystal Wescott, 26, was driving the 2000 Ford SUV when she pulled into the parking lot and attempted to park on the east side of the building. A witness told police the vehicle suddenly accelerated and struck the building. The driver nor passenger, Oscar Castro, 24, were injured during the accident. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a wrecker and an estimate of the damage to the building is unknown at this time.
