A live production, based on the Dr. Seuss “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be presented Saturday, Dec. 15 in Altus.

The one-night-only event “The Grinch, A Tale of a Growing Heart” will be held at the Altus City Auditorium beginning at 6 p.m.

The show is being sponsored by The Door Christian Fellowship Church, 2200 N. Main, and will be performed by a theater group from Amarillo, Texas. There is no admission for the show, but donations will be taken at the door.

“We don’t want to exclude anyone at this time of the year,” said The Door’s Adam Saavedra. “But we are taking monetary donations at the door that night to benefit the local Cops, Kids and Christmas program.”

Saavedra explained that the Altus performance is basically the same as the movie version, but this one points more to the true meaning of Christmas.

“The Grinch still thinks that Christmas is all about the presents,” Saavedra said, “but by the end of the play he find out that it is about much more - family and the birth of Jesus.”
