Altus police responded to the Wal-Mart Pharmacy on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:50 p.m. According to Police Chief Tim Murphy, a caller stated that a subject had attempted to rob the pharmacy.

An employee of the pharmacy said the subject approached the pharmacy counter to pick up medication. While speaking to the employee, the subject demanded money from the pharmacy. The employee told other co-workers, who were nearby, of the robbery and the subject ran from the pharmacy. No weapon was produced or seen by the employee of the pharmacy and no injuries were reported.

Police made contact with the suspect in the parking lot of Wal-Mart where he was positively identified as Timmy Ray Ellis, 36, of Altus. He was taken into custody and later jailed at the Jackson County Jail on complaints of second degree robbery and an arrest warrant for a parole violation from the state of Texas.
