At the Altus Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 12, Mr. Bob Drury reported on the Annual Drop-out Report for Altus High School and Altus Junior High.
Dr. Haught’s report stated: “Based on the Oct. 1 accreditation count of 1,016 ninth through twelfth grade students at Altus High School, the fourth quarter drop-out report lists 57 students dropped from the school’s rolls. Of the 57 students listed, 16 have been recovered. Students returned to the mainstream high school, enrolled in the alternative education program (Bulldog Academy) or enrolled in adult education to pursue a General Equivalent Diploma are considered recovered. Therefore, Altus High School has a drop-out rate for the last quarter of FY 12 of 4.3 percent.”
Mr. Worbes’ drop-out report for Altus Junior High reported “zero students as drop outs this past report year.”
Also in the Superintendent’s reports and comments, Mr. Bob Drury announced the School Board Election filing dates. These are Dec. 3 through 5 at the Jackson County Courthouse to replace the seat to be vacated by Rosalyn Hall.
The claims were approved by the board, with all members present.

There were no changes to policies proposed.
There were no retirements to approve. Two Non-Certified employees resignations were approved for Stephanie Currid Teacher Aide at Sunset and Ashley Gunter Teacher Aide at Will Rogers.
The board approved the Reassignment of District Personnel to Include a Change in Salary for a Certified employee Jan Ford from: Special Education Aide at AHS to: Special Education Teacher at AHS and Will Rogers.
The board also approved the following for the 2012 to 2013 school year:

The Executive Session was moved to the end of the meeting.
The board approved the hire of Non-Certified Personnel on a Temporary Contract for Edwin Heflin Grounds and Maintenance.
The official resolution calling for the School Board Election was approved.
The Final School District Budget was proposed and approved for 2012-2013. Eighty percent of the budget, $24 million, was slated for payroll. The remaining $6 million was for other expenses, totalling to just over $30 million.
The board approved the Board Meeting Dates, Times, and Places for 2013.
The board approved BRB’s bid for a standing seam steel roof for Roosevelt. Following this project, bids will be received for Washington. Next on the project list are roofs for Sunset and Will Rogers. There are plans for Rivers that may preclude a new roof right away. More coming on that subject later.
There was no new business.
During the executive session, the board considered four candidates for the Superintendent position. During and following the executive session, no votes were taken and a President compliance statement was made indicating that before the adjournment.
