Carrol Gene Cox was born to Noah Amos and Minnie Jewel (Ashworth) Cox in Kilgore, Texas on Dec. 14, 1933, and departed this life in Hobart on Oct. 31, 2012.

Carrol grew up in Texas before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. He had been married twice; both wives preceded him in death, Nettie Napoleon and Kay Barnett. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, traveling and arrowhead collecting, and was a member of the House of Prayer in Blair.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Cox; and a granddaughter, Rachel Risenhoover.

Survivors include a son, Shawn Cox of Blair; three daughters, Nettie and husband Dennis Bennett of Biggs, Kathy and husband Lee Westbrook of McAlester, and Samantha and husband Bobby Trench of Hamlin, Texas; two brothers, Donald Cox and Sammy Cox, both of Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildre,n and many other relatives and friends.
