The 25th Annual Altus Fire Department Clown Show was held Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Altus City Auditorium. Two shows were performed for school children and the public.

The skits covered basic fire safety, vehicle safety, and home safety tips. One skit showed a clown, Boxcars, attempting to smoke while using gasoline. The kids in the audience knew right away he’d be in trouble for combining the two. They cheered for good efforts and yelled enthusiastically when answering how to best handle safety problems. They all knew “Stop, Drop and Roll”, courtesy of Eugene the Clown.

One skit showed the benefits of having a family emergency plan. The clowns appeared several times as the silly bunch driving their dilapidated homemade vehicle. First they had their baby clown on the hood of the vehicle. When they found out he was supposed to be belted in, in the back, they tied a little red wagon onto the back of the vehicle. They came back, with the baby all tied up with rope. The Chief untied the baby clown and informed the clowns about the importance of wearing safety belts.
