PIKEVILLE - The University of Pikeville softball program has added another player from Georgia. Taylor Weeks, a middle infielder from Adairsville High School in Adairsville, Ga., has signed a scholarship agreement to play softball at the University of Pikeville.
UPIKE competes in the Mid-South Conference along with Lindsey Wilson, Georgetown, Shawnee State, Campbellsville, Rio Grande, St. Catharine, UVA-Wise, Cumberlands and West Virginia Tech.
Lindsey Wilson (47-13 overall, 19-5 Mid-South Conference) is the reigning Mid-South Conference Champion. The Blue Raiders claimed their third straight Mid-South Conference title in late-April.
Pikeville concluded the 2012 season 17-24 overall and 3-19 in the Mid-South Conference.
The Bears are under the direction of veteran head coach Robert Staggs.
