One woman is dead, and two are in jail after an apparent burglary-gone-wrong Thursday in Vinson.

According to District Attorney John Wampler, a man was asleep at his home in Vinson when he awoke to find three women taking items from his house. A confrontation occurred, and the man fired a shotgun at the women as they fled the house.

Wampler said that one of the women (later identified as Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Sanders, 50, of Granite) was hit and killed, and the other two fled the scene in a blue Ford Mustange that was later stopped in Beckham County.

Wampler added that some items from the man’s home in Vinson was found in the car, and the two women were taken into custody and held for questioning. They have been identified as Misty Dawn Puskaric, 26, and Starr Michelle Timmons, 37, both of Elk City. They were set to be transported to Hollis where they are currently being held on charges of 1st degree burglary.

“Other charges may be added later,” Wampler said.

Harmon County law enforcement was the first on the scene, but later turned the case over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
