Local Toastmaster Club to host Humorous Speech Contest

The Red River Toastmasters Club will host the upcoming Area K Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest. The contest will be held at the Altus Public Library on September 15 at 11 a.m. Contestants from Toastmaster clubs in Lawton and Duncan will competing for a spot in the regional speech contest to be held next month in Oklahoma City.

The Red River Toastmasters Club welcomes all members of the community to come to this entertaining contest cheer on the competitors and discover what Toastmasters is all about.

Toastmasters is an international, nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills, the purposes of the speech contests are to provide opportunities for speakers to challenge their speaking abilities, to provide learning opportunities for the audience by observing more proficient speakers, and to recognize the value of humor in speaking.

The Red River Toastmasters Club meets each Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The club meets at the Southwest Technology Center. Guests are welcome to attend at any time.
