Altus Police have arrested a man in connection with an arson that took place on Aug. 15. An investigation began when a structure fire at 1328 Spruce was ruled suspicious.
According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, “Investigators received information that led them to James J. Rodrigues Sr., of 1316 Spruce. Rodrigues and the resident at 1328 Spruce were once in a dating relationship.”
On Aug. 24, investigators conducted an interview with Rodrigues about the fire at 1328 Spruce. Murphy said, “Rodrigues confessed to police about starting the fire. Evidence was also taken from suspect’s residence. James J. Rodrigues Sr., 54 years of age, was jailed at the Jackson County Detention Center on the complaint of first degree Arson.”
