‘Cops for Kids’ spreads Christmas cheer

The seventh annual Cops for Kids, a special Christmas shopping trip for youth in the Jackson County area, took place at Wal-Mart yesterday, Dec. 12. Santa and his elf were waiting for the children as they came in the door with their escort officer to buy Christmas presents for their families. Nine area youth participated this year. They were escorted by twelve peace officers. They included: Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers Justin Wheeler, Jim Wallace and Trinity Simmons, three Campus Police officers, Don Wills, Randall Parks, and Jeff Thompson. Altus Police Officers included: Sgt. Mike Nell, Master Officer Russell Hansel, Capt. Ray Minst, Patrolman Joe Barrett, Lt. Mike Munn, and Capt. Mary Zepeda.
