The 3rd Annual Toy Run for Kids will be held Saturday, Dec. 1. Motorcycle riders from across the state will join the Forsaken Few and other area clubs and riders. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at Born Hog Wild located at 1500 West Broadway and will pull out with a parade escort at 12:30 p.m. The parade will end at the Altus Fire Station where the toys and gifts will be dropped off. The Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Salvation Army will be in charge of distributing gifts to area children and teenagers.

Jimmy Geigle, organizer of this year's event, will be leading the parade. Riding with him will be his dog, Simon, a “chopper” spaniel. Simon will be decked out in his Santa suit.

After the run, a luncheon will be provided at Trader Tom's. Each rider will receive a raffle ticket for door prizes. Additional tickets may be purchased for $1 each. In addition to the door prizes, an individual raffle for a complete limited edition NASCAR and Lionel train set will be held. These tickets sell for $5 each. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

Entry requirements are a new toy, gift card or cash. Donations may be dropped off prior to the event at Born Hog Wild or The Shop, 124 E. Pecan. If you are unable to participate but still want to donate, contact Jimmy Geigle at 580-318-3265 or come by the The Shop at 114 E. Pecan.

Geigle stated that gift cards and cash are used to purchase items for older children and teenagers. Sometimes children in this age bracket get overlooked. Geigle stated with the generousity of the Altus Wal-Mart Store and Hobby Lobby in Lawton, 44 area teenagers last year had everything on their wish lists. Both stores provided assistance with the shopping as well as huge discounts.
