Brent Charles Wheatley, 42, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2007, in Stillwater. Services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Stillwater with the Rev. Tim Walker officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater.

He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 13, 1964, to Floyd Charles Wheatley Jr. and Ramona Caroline (Miller) Wheatley. He married Bridgette Dean on March 5, 1994, in Las Vegas.

In 1988 he moved back to Stillwater and started his music career with the help of his brother, Jody, and Tim Harris. Together they established their band "Manifest Destiny" and produced three albums, "All Life, All Minds," "What You Fear," "Within," and a fourth soon to be released by the record label, Rock It Up Records. He wrote all the music for their albums. He also produced albums for other bands during his career and worked with several different genres of music including Rock, Religious and Country & Western. He was the sweetest person with a gentle spirit and a kind heart. He was a caring person with strong religious convictions. He was a self-taught musician and taught classical guitar. It was important to him that people know that he and his band were hard workers and that they lived their lives to glorify their faith in Jesus Christ.

The Oklahoma music community came together this summer in Oklahoma City for a benefit concert and the Oklahoma State University Music Department also performed a benefit concert for Brent and Bridgette. These were both very special moments and a special thanks is given to them.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Alfred Miller and Floyd Wheatley Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Bridgette Wheatley, of Stillwater; his father, Floyd Wheatley Jr. and his wife Cyndi of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother, Ramona Wheatley of Perkins; two brothers, Darren Ross Wheatley and his wife Shawn of Colorado Springs, and Jody Len Wheatley and his wife Jeana of Stillwater; nieces and nephews, Justin, Mason, Israel and Georgia Wheatley of Colorado Springs, and Kaleb Wheatley of Stillwater; stepbrothers, Trevor Wieman and his wife Kare, of Colorado Springs, Travis Wieman and his wife Veronica of Colorado Springs; step-sister, Tabatha Fotenos and her husband Alexander of Colorado Springs; step-nieces and nephews, Maisy and Tyler Wieman, Theresa and Alysa Wieman, Marcus, Drew and Melina Fotenos, all of Colorado Springs.
