, in cooperation with the Altus Chamber of Commerce, will hold another in their series of Legislative Luncheons at 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 20, in the Student Center at WOSC. Senator Mike Schulz will discuss the issues and answer questions. The public is invited and should call the Altus Chamber at 482-0210 to reserve your meal. The cost is $10. Altus VFW Post #4876 will sponsor a benefit garage sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at the VFW Post on Veterans Dr. Thousands of items to select from such as; furniture, appliances, lawn mowers, electronics, toys and more. Altus High Graduation Celebration will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Elks Golf and Country Club. Entry fee is $25 per person, mulligans are three for $5 (limit three per person). Flights will be determined by number of entries. There will be a limited number of carts and they will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Relay for Life garage/bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, 6 3/4 miles north on 283 left hand side of the road. All proceeds go towards finding a cure for cancer.

Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Carnival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Altus Community Center on the east side. The event is sponsored by ACMI House, Inc. It is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Valarie at 482-3800.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church will hold its annual Italian Extravaganza dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 Saturday, April 21. Dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children, under 6 years old free of charge. Southwest Oklahoma Animal Network will hold a bake sale at the BX from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21.

Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently taking registration for a Standard First Aid/AED class to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 23. This class will include certification for Adult CPR/First AID and the Automated External Defibrillation. You must pre-register and pre-pay for this class by April 20. Third District CASA will begin training volunteers on Monday, April 23. Adults in Jackson and Harmon Counties age 21 or older with the desire and commitment to help an abused or neglected child may volunteer. For more information call 482-4600.

Altus Chapter 33, Disabled American Veterans and Unit 33 Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Towers Meeting Room. Altus Masonic Lodge Number 62 will hold a school of instructions at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. Fellowship will be at 6 p.m. All Masons are urged to attend.

Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently taking registration for Child/Infant CPR class to be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, April 27. Duke City Wide Cleanup will be held Saturday, April 28. All volunteers welcome and must meet at the Fire Department at 8 a.m. Items, which need to be picked up, should be placed curbside. Separate metal items from all other items to be picked up. For large items call the city hall at 679-3400 or Bill Crawford at 679-4816. Duke Chamber of Commerce will be serving lunch at the city park for all workers. Eddie Summers, assisted by R.B. Masters will be in charge of the city-wide cleanup.

Craft Show for Relay for Life Cancer Research will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Altus Community Center. Booths are $25 each, If interested, call Janet at 482-1208.

The Food Pantry of the Church of the Nazarene, 700 N. Main, will be open 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 28. Those in need of food assistance should bring a photo ID. For more information, call 482-0964

Altus Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #120 presents the 2007 National Police Week 5K Run and 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk to be held at 9 a.m. May 19, at the Altus Community Center. Individuals and teams are welcomed. All participants must register and sign a waiver. No cost to participate.

Donations are being accepted to benefit Altus FOP Scholarship Fund. To pre-register, pick up form at Altus Police Department or register the day of the race at 8 a.m.

BSA Troop 273 meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 317 N. Main. Boys between the ages of 11 and 18, as well as adults over 18 are welcome to attend.

Omicron Gamma of Beta Sigma Phi is hosting the first annual Miss Altus/Southwestern Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant on August 11 in Altus. Applications for contestants are currently being taken.
