ALTUS - Four men, if they are nabbed, could face felony charges of larceny of a person, even when all they got away with after beating a man Tuesday afternoon in west central Altus was a pack of cigarettes and a small amount of money.

According to Altus Police Chief Mike Patterson, at 5:13 p.m. officers responded to 100 N. Blain, where a man was reportedly lying in the street. The man told police he was walking on Benson when the four men, who were driving a small blue car, approached and asked him for money.

The victim was beaten and received stitches for a cut on his lip.

The value of items taken from a person does not matter when they are taken by means of force or fear, Patterson said. The crime is considered a felony.
