Opal Jackson, 86, of Marion, formerly of Salinas, Calif., died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1919, in Rosedale to Wiley and Maude (Martin) Harbison. She married Bernis Jackson in Sayre in 1940 and together they shared 65 years of marriage. She was of the Apostolic-Pentecostal faith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Dan Boyd officiating. There will be no visitation.

Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville, Ill. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62659.

Survivors include her husband, Bernis Jackson of Marion; daughter, Nancy Brandon of Marion; daughter and son-in-law LaNell and the Reverend R. G. Walls of Marion; grandchildren, Annette Walls, Ronnie Walls, Kim and Doug Janz, Erica and Jason Claunch, Launa and Brandon “BJ” Davis, and Celeste Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jacob Janz, DJ Janz, Jr., Ashley Hart and Amanda Hart; dear friend, Dennis Brandon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy Carroll Jackson; four brothers; and five sisters.
