A fire in Hollis, Sunday, July 31, totally destroyed a couple's bedroom. The Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross has assisted with emergency needs of the family. The Altus Junior High 8th grade football team will be checking out equipment on Friday in the school's cafeteria from 5 -6:30 p.m. In order to receive equipment, students must have had a physical. Following the check out a parents meeting will be held at 7 p.m.

All elementary students (grades K-4) who did not pre-enroll at an Altus elementary school last spring will need to come by the Altus Board of Education Office at 219 N. Lee and fill out paperwork to be assigned to a school before they will be allowed to register for school on Aug. 12. The Board of Education is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. daily.
