Chickasha and Bartlesville rounded out the top five in the eight team field.
Altus won the 800, 1600 and 3200 relays. The 800 relay team of Tyara Jones, Itiya Knight, Vetta McCaskill and Jazznae Harris ran a 1:47.12 to win. Harris, V. McCaskill, Zetta McCaskill and Lesli Kelly ran a 4:15 to take the 1600 Relay while Kelly, Z.McCaskill, Christin Fairchild and Debra Kime took the 3200 Relay with a time of 10:17 (which is the third fastest time in the state in Class 5A)
Others taking home first place were V. McCaskill in the 200 Dash (25.67),and Harris in the 400 Dash (1:00). Z. McCaskill took second in the 400 Dash while Kime was second in the 1600 and 3200 runs. The 400 relay team of Jones, Knight, V.McCaskill and Harris took second also. Laurel Warren added a runner-up finish in the Pole Vault.
Finishing third for the Lady Bulldogs were Fairchild in the 800 and 1600 runs, Holly Childs in the 100 and 300 Hurdles and Tisay Woodhouse in the Shot Put.
“We are very proud of the girls for the way they competed today,” said assistant coach Robert Garrison, “we feel really good about where we are at right now.”
The season heats up for the Lady Bulldogs as the next two weeks will challenge them. Thursday the Lady Bulldogs will travel back to Duncan for the conference meet. On May 7 Altus will begin their quest for a state title when they enter the Regional Meet at Yukon. Other teams in the Altus Regional are: Ada, Ardmore, Capitol Hill, Carl Albert, Duncan, El Reno, Guymon, Lawton Mac and Western Heights.

CHICKASHA – The Altus Lady Bulldog Track team went to the first annual Chickasha Invitational Track Meet on recently and came away with a runner-up finish. Lawton Ike scored 216 points to take the title. Altus scored 191 points in the five team field.
“We used this meet as a good practice session for the week,” said assistant coach Robert Garrison, “we moved a lot of girls around and had them run some different events.”
Altus won the 400, 800 and 3200 relays. Kendra Gibson, Dashawna Jackson, Itiya Knight and Jazznae
Harris were on the 400 Relay team. Jackson, Knight, Harris and Vetta McCaskill took the 800 Relay while Christin
Fairchild, Zetta McCaskill, Brenda Ortiz and Lesli Kelly took the 3200 relay title. Jackson ran a 12.16 in the 100 dash to win the event while V. McCaskill ran a 25.98 to win the 200 dash. V. McCaskill also won the 400 with a 1:01.
Finishing second were Kelly in the 400 Dash, Fairchild in the 800 and 1600 runs, Ortiz in the 3200, Tisay Woodhouse in the Discus and Shot and the 1600 Relay team of Harris, V. McCaskill, Z. McCaskill and Holly Childs.
