Back to school for teachers

Altus Intermediate School 5th grade science and social studies teachers Kelsey Haught, McKenzie Williams, Gayla Graham and Lorie Vargas met on Monday to begin preparing for the 2015-2016 school year.


Wednesday, Aug. 5 was the first official day for teachers to report back to their schools. However many Altus teachers have been working in their classrooms and collaborating with colleagues for many days in anticipation for the upcoming school year. All Altus Public Schools employees began the year in a welcome back assembly. Geroge Couros traveled from Canada to address the staff with his technology integration expertise. Employees will attend various meetings, trainings and spend time working on lesson planning over the next several days.

Meet the Teacher is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7. Elementary schools will be accepting enrollment documents, as well as, hold Meet the Teacher from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Altus Intermediate, Junior High and High School will gold Meet the Teachers from 8 a.m.to 12 noon.

The first day of school for students in Altus will be this coming Tuesday, Aug. 11.
