Tuesday the Altus Municipal Authority met at the Altus city complex in a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss agenda items and bring several matters to a vote.

The replacement of the 150kw generator and switch gear currently in use at the Altus Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant and subsequent contract was brought forward to the council. The current generator, installed in 1983, fell out of use after the winter storm that hit in December 2015.

After deliberation, Texoma Power LLC out of Ardmore was selected with a bid within the $300,000 budget and an offer of a five-year warranty on a Generac generator, the brand preferred by the current operators. The proposal was brought to a vote and approved by the board.

The council also took a vote on a proposal to hire JB’s Removal and Cleanup out of Willow to take over trash removal and maintenance throughout the city. The contract on the city’s trash removal service came up earlier this year, at which time city officials solicited bids to reduce waste management expenses.

According to the proposal, this move would significantly reduce those costs, lowering the expense from $180 per ton moved to $83 per ton moved, not including tipping fees. The motion was approved to hire JB’s Removal and Cleanup after a six-month hiatus on contracted trash removal services throughout the city.

The approval on a straight trade-in with the original dealer on a nine-year old Deweze ATM72LC slope mower to a new Polecat Model 942533 zero turn mower was also given by the board. This mower along with a tractor will be used to mow the slopes around the city.

No new business was brought before the council.
