Arturo DeJesus, 34, of Altus, made his initial court appearance Thursday on the charge of first degree rape. DeJesus was arrested for the crime after sexually assaulting a teen and getting her pregnant.
According to an affidavit filed in the district court of Jackson County, the victim was staying the night at DeJesus’ house in December 2015 when the incident was said to have happened.
The girl told investigators the only sexual encounter she has ever had was the forced incident by DeJesus. The man did not deny the incident to investigators, but continuously stated, “I don’t remember.”
DeJesus appeared in open court without an attorney March 17. A preliminary hearing conference was set for April 15 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was denied and it was noted that he was not to have contact with the victim, nor have anyone else contact the victim.
The crime DeJesus is accused of is a felony and punishable by imprisonment for not less than five years.
