The sidewalks in downtown Altus will be filled with artists using colored chalk to create masterpieces. The event is set for Sunday, March 6.

Come join the fun on the downtown Altus square on Sunday, March 6. This is the date set for the annual “Walkin’ On Chalk” event sponsored by Main Street Altus.

Each year participants in various age groups, both student and adult, take their imagination and talents to the sidewalks around the downtown Altus square.

Each artist is assigned a spot to create their masterpieces using colored chalk. Judges will decide the winners from each age group and prizes will be awarded.

Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day with the contest being held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Judging will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. with awards announced at 4 p.m.

While strolling around looking at the artists at work, you can visit the food vendors, look at the art displays and participate in some of the other fun festivities planned on the square.
