Altus Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened New Year’s Day in the 12oo block of W. Wingfield. According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, the shooting appears to be have been accidental shooting.

According to Murphy, the shooting call came in at 12:38 p.m. on Jan. 1. When police arrived they discovered the body of a 62-year-old male victim outside under a carport. The victim was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel and was later pronounced dead.
