Area damaged from winter storm

The winter storm that hit the state over the weekend left plenty of damage in Altus and the surrounding area. Thousands of tree limbs snapped, and several trees were uprooted by high winds, heavy snow and ice accumulations. This tree on N. Navajo near “A” Street fell on a car. Utility lines and poles also came down throughout the area leaving Altus and other areas completely in the dark by Sunday evening. Crews have been working long hours to restore power to everyone, but some outlaying homes may be without power for another week.
