The goal of the Altus Salvation Army Angel Tree program is to make sure every child has a gift to open and food on the table for Christmas morning, when we celebrate the greatest gift of all, Jesus.

Last year, the Salvation Army of Altus, which serves Jackson and Greer Counties, with the help of our local community, provided almost 150 families with food and 248 children with toys. This year, the need is greater.

According to Major Ben Walters, Jr. Corps Officer in Altus, there are approximately 150 more names hanging on their Angel Trees this year. “We are counting on the generous and supportive citizens of Altus and the surrounding area to meet the needs of the children in this area by picking an angel off of one of our trees,” said Walters.

Walters said that more names are being added to the trees throughout the week.

There are two Angel Trees at Walmart of Altus, one at the NBC Bank in downtown Altus, and one at the Applebee’s Restaurant in Altus.
