Bazaar set for Wednesday

The public is invited to attend the annual Country Kitchen Christmas Bazaar at the First United Methodist Church in Altus this Wednesday, Nov. 18. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and features a community luncheon, holiday bake sale, and quilt sale and exhibit.

The Mrs. Claus Candy Shoppe will offer homemade candies and confections, and the North Pole Bakery will offer cakes, pies, soups, bread, jellies, hors d’oeuvre, and other specialty food items.

The luncheon menu will include Pride of the Prairie Stew, Ken’s Gourmet Beans, Methodist Cornbread, all the trimmings, and homemade peach cobbler.

There will also be approximately 30 quilts exhibited including heirloom, contemporary, vintage, and specialty quilts. Four quilts will be offered for sale including a vintage Double Wedding Ring, vintage top Painted Prairie, Lucille’s English Garden, and Red Centre. The latter three were quilted by the First United Methodist Quilting Bee.

Five baby quilts will be sold as well as handmade gift items and Cindy Player’s cookbook.

Proceeds will be used for the group’s mission projects and community philanthropies.
