Altus businesses will officially kick off the holiday season this Sunday with their annual Holiday Open House event. Businesses around the downtown square, and others across Altus, will be open special hours, offering great deals on holiday gifts, decorations and other merchandise.

Brian Bush of the Altus Chamber said, “This is a special time of year in Altus for many reasons, and I always look forward to seeing the amazing decorations and deals that our local businesses feature during this time.” He went on to say, “The Holiday Open House events scheduled for Sunday will be the perfect way to showcase our local retailers and all the hard work they do in bringing special finds to the people of Altus. It also serves as a great reminder of how important it is to do your shopping right here in Altus, where your dollars support local jobs, local programs, and local growth. “

This is also the perfect opportunity to start collecting your Candy Cane Cash Tickets for the annual Main Street Altus Candy Cane “Sweet” stakes. On Saturday , Dec.12 multiple drawings will be held in downtown Altus for cash prizes totaling up to $12,500. Tickets given out by participating businesses in Altus will be used for multiple cash drawings that day.

on’t throw your tickets away after the Saturday drawing because another $1,000 cash drawing will be held on Monday, Dec. 14. The winning ticket number will be posted at 9 a.m. on the Main Street Altus Facebook page, and announced on local radio station. Numbers will not be given over the phone. If no one claims the Monday drawing, another ticket will be drawn each day until there is a winner. For more information about the Candy Cane Cash drawings, visit the Main Street Altus website at mainstreetaltus.org

Make out your Christmas list and enjoy refreshments while you shop.
