Altus Police have arrested a second person who they believe is involved in a recent identity theft, mail fraud and credit card fraud investigation. Christie Fields, 36, was arrested early Sunday morning shortly before 3 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy said that Fields, who was a passenger in the vehicle, originally gave police a false name, but after further investigation, police positively identified her. During the arrest, Fields broke free from officers and a short foot pursuit followed. She was apprehended in the alley of the 600 block of W. Broadway.

She was later transported to the Jackson County Jail where she faces charges of resisting arrest. Fields is also being held on a Kiowa County warrant for Failure to Appear.

A 20 year old female driver, Alexis Bustos, was also arrested on a Jackson County warrant and for Obstructing Officers.

In the vehicle, police discovered mail, checks, credit and debit cards that belonged to other individuals. Investigators will submit additional charges to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office in the ongoing fraud investigation.
