According to District Attorney John Wampler, a Hollis man has been arrested for kidnapping and rape.
The report states that Mario Garces, Jr., 47, was said to have lured a Hollis woman to a rural location in the late hours of Saturday, Aug. 22. He allegedly used duct tape to bind her wrists, blind folded her, and bound her up in a blanket. Garces was then said to have transported the victim to a residence in Hollis where he kept her captive until the early morning hours of Monday, Aug. 24.
During the two-day period that the victim was held captive, she said that she was assaulted and raped several times.
Wampler said that the Drug and Violet Crimes Task Force was notified early Monday morning of the alleged crimes that occurred at a residence in Harmon County.
Agents of the District Three Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, in cooperation with the Hollis Police Department and the Harmon County Sheriff’s Department, conducted the investigation.
A search of the residence recovered evidence supporting the allegations of kidnapping and rape.
Special District Judge Brad Leverett set bond on Garces at $500,000. As of Friday afternoon, Garces was being held in the Jackson County Jail awaiting arraignment in his Harmon County case for one count of Kidnapping, and three counts of Rape in the First Degree.
