Linda Cartwright and Lydia Salaiz have been recognized as the August Employees of the Month. Cartwright has been with Altus Schools for ten years and currently serves as the secretary to the Director of Curriculum, Cindy Allen.

“There are many responsibilities in this department that can impact a child’s future, which is our primary concern. I enjoy working with the wonderful staff at the Board of Education and with all school district employees to ensure that we meet the needs of every child so that they have a bright future when they go out into the world,” Cartwright says of her job. She is an active member of FBC Altus and enjoys helping with the t.v. ministry, Sunday daycare and the monthly community luncheon. She and her husband Ron have three children, Matthew Vann, Jill Vann Wallace, and Nicole Purtscher and six grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Isaiah, Hannah, Serynn, and Gyniss.

Lydia Salaiz has been a computer lab assistant at Roosevelt Elementary for the past 19 years. Salaiz says, “I work with the greatest people in education. I love working with computers and I have definitely been able to do that at Roosevelt. My days are never boring, because no two days are ever alike.” Lydia is a member of the Church of Christ and spends her free time with her nephew, Sean and two honorary grandchildren, Kyla and Trace.

The APS Employee of the Month program began in August 2014 as a partnership between Altus Public Schools and Stockman’s Bank. The purpose of the program is to recognize and reward Altus Public Schools certified and non-certified employees that show exemplary individual achievement, contribution, and performance in their jobs. In addition to being recognized by their peers, employees selected will receive a $100 cash prize courtesy of Stockman’s Bank.

“The program was huge success last year! We are grateful to Stockman’s Bank for continuing to partner with us on this project,” said Amanda Davis, Director of Public Relations for Altus Schools.
