Fire fighters were called to Western Oklahoma State College campus around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Technical Education Building, located on the north side of Western Oklahoma State College’s campus, had caught fire.
According to Judith Meyer, Director of Public Information at Western, the fire seems to have been contained to the roof of the building. The fire was soon out, and the Altus Fire Department inspected the interior of the building to gather preliminary information.
Meyer said that there were no injuries, and no staff was in the building at the time of the fire.
The building, located on the north side of the north parking lot at Western, is currently having roofing work done to it, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Roofers were back on the job this morning at the site. Meyer said that updates will be issued when more information has been gathered.
Due to last night’s fire in the Tech Ed Building, the building will be closed until further notice.
