Most of the athletes have been doing what they can to stay in shape and be football and softball ready. A large majority of them are excited for school to begin so they can get back to playing the sports they love.

The Altus seventh- and eighth-grade boys will hit the field for an Aug. 18 evening scrimmage against the Weatherford Eagles. Their first game will be Aug. 30 against the Lawton Ike Eagles at home followed by another home contest against the Elk City Big Elks on Sept. 6.

They will be back home for their Sept. 27 battle against the Duncan Demons and on the road again for an Oct. 4 game against the Lawton Tomlinson Wolves. They will travel to Clinton to face the Red Tornadoes on Oct. 18 and close out the season against the Anadarko Warriors on Oct. 25.

All games are 5 p.m. Tuesday evenings with the exception of the scrimmage against Weatherford.

The ninth-grade football team will kick off the season with a scrimmage at the Weatherford Eagles home turf Aug. 19, before traveling to Vernon to face off against the Lions in the first game Sept. 1.
