The Altus Bulldogs played host to the Weatherford Eagles last night for a scrimmage. A very large crowd was on hand to see it.

The 9th grade and the junior varsity split the ends of the field and scrimmaged at 6 p.m.

The Varsity came out of the locker room and faced Weatherford about 7:15 p.m. Of course, it was a scrimmage, therefore no scores were kept. Whistles stopped plays early, and no special teams were at work. However, when the one’s (starters) from both teams were going head to head during a 15 minute quarter in which the clock continuously ran down through whistles and flags, The Bulldogs appeared to win.

Weatherford never mounted much of an attack against the Bulldog’s starting defense. In fact, they spent most of their efforts going backwards, throwing interceptions to Jayden Benway, or retreating to hide behind a whistle to stop the play.

Then the Bulldogs starting offense took the field. Four defense torturing plays later and the Bulldogs were in the end zone.

This team is good, really good. Look for my 2015 Football Season Preview in the Aug. 27 edition of the Altus times to find out just how good this team is.

GO BULLDOGS !!
